An Antique American Floral Stained Glass Cherry Blossom Window from Minneapolis, circa 1900. This is a very nice floral window with color phasing from top to bottom and well executed flowers. The window has been re-cemented and re-framed. It appears to me that in the re-cementing process, 'tie wires' were removed and that the window's original frame had reinforcing bars to which it was affixed. Oddly, at some point, much of the came on the backside of the window was abraded in several sections, as if it were rubbed on a table top excessively. The result is that there are sections of the came which are 'flattened'. I can't see any particular purpose to this nor was the glass abraded and it hasn't degraded the integrity of the window. I would however suggest that re-bars be reinstalled in the new frame and the panel affixed to them with new wires. As far as I can tell, all of the glass is original to the window. Ah ha!! After some inquiry, it seems that for quite some time this panel (and its mate which I do not have) was sandwiched between sheets of glass and installed in a pair of doors. The wear patterns may have been explained! In the new oak frame the window measures 49.5" x 28.25" while the panel size appears to be 45.25" x 24".
