J&R Lamb Figural Window

(Samaritan woman at Jacob's well?)

A life size window, in its frame it measures 35 +3/4 inches wide and 77 +1/2 inches tall.  (At the time the pictures were taken, the window was mounted in a 7 +3/4 inch deep shadow box so it could go flat against a wall and be lit with three fluorescent lights that are installed.)  The window has multiple layers of glass throughout, which was a technique frequently used by Tiffany Studios, Lamb Studios, and LaFarge and is one sign of a quality window.  It also has lead came throughout which was not always the case with Tiffany and LaFarge.  If you look at the girls head covering you will see it is an opaque white piece of glass and the leaded glass layer behind it makes it look like fabric with shadows.  The same process was used for the rendering of the sleeve on the shoulder and down the arm.  Multiple layers are also used at the top for the trees and leaves to give them depth.

The window is in excellent condition with a very few small cracks here and there. The Piece of blue sky directly to the right of the face in the picture above has most likely been replaced.  This is a window which came from the collection of Bob Ogorek, who sold it to his friend David Hagelstein who in turn displayed it for many years in his Rochester, Michigan restaurant, ‘The Wagon Wheel’.  During that time the window had a 1/4 inch thick piece of Plexiglas covering it to protect it from rowdy customers.  This also was in place at the time the pictures were taken.

Price: $22,500.00
