A gorgeous Antique American Stained and Jeweled Glass Floral Window. From the Pittsburg/Cincinnati area, circa 1890, this to my eye is a wonderful window. The composition is nicely done and the glass selection in the floral area very hansom, with lovely Jewels accenting the corners. Unfortunately, the blue background glass is of a chemical composition which has reacted to chemicals in the atmosphere over time and begun to de-vitrify. This is a not uncommon problem associated particularly with reds, yellows and oranges, and also apparently with this particular blue. It is most often found in windows which came from heavily industrialized centers such as Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Gary, etc. The process in this window has halted, but none the less has damaged the blue to some extent and there are a few cracks extant as well. Having said all of that, it's still a wonderful window. In its original frame this window measures 40" x 21". Price: $1,800.00
