A 3pc. Antique American Stained Jeweled Glass Window set, circa 1895 from New Jersey.

This set was sold by Fontaine's Auction House in July of 2000.  It was purchased by a former AOL executive and I in turn purchased it from him.  The following is the description from the Fontaine's catalogue (which is pictured below in a thumbnail picture):

"Three piece Tiffany window set, layered from both sides and bordered with cranberry jewels, the helmet is varying shades of gray and the shield in deep red.  From a New Jersey Mansion.  Circa 1895.  Glass size 20" high x 36" wide, side panels 20" high x 16" wide."

This is an interesting set in that there are several elements  that are unusual.  First is the use of a jeweled belt around the perimeter.  Secondly would be the plated sections, in particular the central medallions which to my eye strongly mimic Turtlebacks.  The reinforcing is round bar which is bent to conform to the lead lines.  Finally, the glass through much of the window is very very nice.

I don't know if these are Tiffany windows or not.  If I was backed into a corner, I would probably say that they are, but frankly I'd be more comfortable if I had some additional provenance.

The windows are in stable condition at this time.  Some time between the sale at auction and my purchase the windows were damaged.  They have been stabilized with glue and re-cementing.
