An Antique Stained and Jeweled Glass Ceiling in a massive Mahogany frame. This ceiling has been thoroughly restored, both the frame and the individual panels. The frame was re-glued, reinforced and damaged segments on the backside replaced. The panels had damaged sections repaired, new reinforcing bars fabricated and installed and all panels were re-cemented. There are a few remaining small cracks, but very few and very small. The perimeter framing is solid Mahogany, 3.25" square and the interior mullions are also solid Mahogany. The framing was stripped and finished with Varnish. The framing of this set is presentable from the one side only as it was intended to be a ceiling. It could be used vertically in a light box, but if it were to be used in an application where the backside is visible, it would either need to be painted or have significant additional cabinet work done to make it presentable. I would like to think this is American but most likely it is of European origin.
